Vinay Vaidya, M.D. vvaidya@peds.umaryland.edu
Vinay Vaidya, M.D. is the project leader for the current research projects involving continuous medication infusions in ICU patients. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program. He holds a faculty position in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children. His major research focus is medical informatics, specifically rapid application development for clinical use in critically ill neonates and children. In addition to being a pediatric critical care physician he is an avid programmer. Dr. Vaidya has created a number of clinical software applications which include  the DKA program (for management of diabetic ketoacidosis), and TPN 2000, (a computerized program with rich decision support tools, used at a number of leading children's hospitals, (website: www.marvinmedisoft.com) A novel and very useful software created by Dr. Vaidya for the specifically for standardized concentrations is the "Concentration Optimizer". This is a program which automates the task of rapidly identify two to four ideal standard concentrations for any drug used as continuous infusions. A process that could potentially take weeks to months, is accomplished in minutes.

Mohamed Gaffoor, M.D. is a fellow in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children. His major interest and research focus is medical informatics in the PICU. Dr. Gaffoor has aided in creating computer applications within the University of Maryland PICU. In addition, Dr. Gaffoor is the webmaster for this website, www.icudrips.org 

LeAnthony Mathews, M.S., R.N.
LeAnthony is a critical care nurse in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children. He is also an Informatician specializing in decision support systems including knowledge management and machine learning. In addition to working on the ICU Drips project he is the creator of Arrestsheet.com, a web-based, comprehensive program for generation of code sheet for any child, from the smallest neonate to the largest adolescent patient.

Elora Hilmas, PharmD
Elora Hilmas is the Pediatric Pharmacy Clinical Manager at the University of Maryland Medical Center.  She is a graduate of the University of Maryland Pharmacy School where she obtained her PharmD.  Her pharmacy practice and pediatric specialty residencies were completed at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.  She recently achieved Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) and has articles published in the American Journal of Hospital Pharmacy (AJHP) and the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacy.  In her current job, she focuses on medication safety by being an active participant in the Medication Error and Adverse Drug Event Advisory Council.  She collaborates on a number of medication safety initiatives within a multidisciplinary team.

Human Factors Research Group
The Human Factors Research Group (HFRP) is a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Maryland School of medicine.  Their goal is to investigate how fusion of human factors, technology and medicine can together improve patient safety. Several of their members are actively involved in our research related to ICU drips. Yan Xiao, PhD, F. Jacob Seagull, PhD, and Yen-Chiao (Angel) Lu, RN, MS.
